Ecosystems can be made up entirely of internal parties (such as developers within an organization) or can include external individuals and organizations, such as suppliers, third-party providers, customers, developers, regulators, or even competitors. APIs are a critical component in making it simple and easy to build, scale and manage those business relationships.

Banco Azteca, a large multinational bank based out of Mexico, adopted an API strategy to build an ecosystem of internal business units and partners to deliver services beyond traditional banking. Using Google Cloud’s Apigee API management platform, Banco Azteca bundled digital solutions across business groups and partners and quickly launched them to market as API products. This strategy also helped them deliver a seamless and consistent experience across channels and partners.

Today, Banco Azteca offers 100+ digital API products together with 20+ partners processing 4M+ transactions per day.
